Northern Lights season

When is the best time to see the Northern Lights?

The Northern Lights season in Norway lasts from mid-September to late March/early April. All you need is a dark, clear sky, and a generous amount of solar activity.

  • September-October: These months may not offer long periods of darkness, but there is plenty of solar activity, increasing your chances of witnessing the magical lights.
  • November-February: Darkness is a sure thing during these months, but be aware of potential snow and cloud cover that could obstruct your view of the auroras.
  • March: As spring approaches, expect more daylight, but fear not, as the solar activity remains high, providing ample opportunities to catch a glimpse of the stunning Northern Lights.
